I recently applied for a Ag card for my wife and a couple of FC cards for my twin 6 yr olds as per the offer to Au card holders.

All went relatively smoothly until the cards arrived; each one had the same incorrect surname spelling - out by one letter (they've inserted the same 3rd letter in each case, making the surname 5 letters instead of 4, with of course an incorrect name as a result).[:(]

My wife called the FC and queried this, and was told not to worry it doesn't matter and they wouldn't be re-issuing the cards. I can't see that this is sensible/acceptable as the cards will now NOT match any booking/PNR names etc in the future, and if anything might cause the odd problem or two. [:?]

I haven't queried this with the FC yet myself, but thought I'd float this here and see what the collective wisdom is.

The name on the card being incorrect as long as the name listed in the account (where the information from your bookings gets collected) is as per your bookings.
Give FC a ring and get them to check spellings on the 'PNR name' to put your mind at ease. It is an easy thing to amend that for you. If you want your names correct on the account, they can update that for you, but until you renew your cards, they would not normally reissue cards, unless you specifically request them to do so. Remember to ring the FC gold line if you are entitled to it, as you will receive service from agents trained in Gold member requirements.

Juliet, sorry for hi-jacking this thread but, given that I cannot ring the FC gold line from here, is there another number I can ring - other than the UC reservation line which is what I usually use?

The upper class line should get you the same agents as the gold line. just be sure to clarify that you are a gold member (if you are not, in fact, ringing regarding an Upper Class booking) so they do not offer to transfer you somewhere else.
