Pacific Blue To Launch Direct Flights From Brisbane And Melbourne To Fiji

Pacific Blue** has today confirmed it will begin direct flights to Fiji (Nadi) from Brisbane and Melbourne on September 9 and 10 respectively, after receiving approval from the Government in Suva.

The low fare carrier will operate three services a week from both the Queensland and Victorian capitals to Nadi, the gateway city to the Fijian Islands, bringing with it the low fares and award winning service the airline is renowned for.

While Melbourne and Brisbane will act as gateways, the airline will also offer convenient connections and affordable fares for travellers from Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Townsville, Cairns, Perth, Rockhampton, Darwin, Launceston and Hobart who can transfer directly from their Virgin Blue domestic flight to Pacific Blue’s Fiji services.

With the flights scheduled for midday or early afternoon arrivals in Nadi, Guests will have ample time to make connections to resorts throughout the Fijian Islands so they can get the most out of their holiday.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said, “By not being forced to arrive late at night or depart early in the morning, Guests will get more daylight hours at their destination and have time to travel to the outer islands and see more of Fiji, thereby spreading the economic benefit beyond the gateway cities.

“Our customer-friendly schedules will be especially appealing to the underdeveloped short break market and will be most appreciated by families travelling with children which is a market that Fiji is famous for with its outstanding child care options and kids activity programs at numerous hotels and resorts”, he added.

Visitors to Fiji can enjoy the complete holiday experience, from snorkelling over shallow reefs close to shore, diving through the vibrant corals, riding in a jet boat or swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters. Well known as one of the friendliest tropical holiday retreats in the Pacific, Fiji is considered a world class holiday destination not only for its great facilities and attractions, but because of the charm, beauty and hospitality of the Fijian culture.

“Pacific Blue’s new flights to Fiji are great news for Aussie travellers wanting affordable travel to a convenient, five-star overseas destination that has much to offer holiday seekers. Our low fares make travel to the Fijian Islands within easy reach of all Australians looking to experience this little piece of paradise”, Brett Godfrey finished.

Pacific Blue will operate one of its modern Next Generation Boeing 737-800 jets on the route and will add over 1000 seats per week from both the Queensland and Victorian capitals to Nadi.

It’s been a busy week for airline with today’s news following hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Pacific Blue will introduce non-stop flights between Australia and Vanuatu from September 20. The international low fare airline will be offering great deals on holiday packages to both Vanuatu and Fiji through its Blue Holidays division as well as other leading package holiday operators and travel agents.
