Infants in new Premium Economy

Does anyone know what the skycot situation is in the refitted premium economy? We're planning on visiting my parents in May (LHR-JFK) with our will-be-nearly-5-months daughter, and we're tempted to go Premium Economy as it now looks much better value for money and the seat's a really nice size. But it's no go without a skycot--I can't manage with her on my lap for the entire flight.

While we're at it, how's the situation on refits going on that route? I saw the list of planes, but that's not really meaningful to me...

The new Premium Economy (NPE) still has an infant cradle position in the front row.

Currently NPE is available on 12 out of 16 of the A340-600 aircraft When all 600s have NPE, it will be rolled out across the rest of the fleet.

As there are 4 flights a day to JFK it will be better to choose one operated by the A340-600 (although aircraft changes can occur up until the day of departure). The VS025 and VS009 are nearly always A340-600 flights whereas the VS003 tends to be changeable and the VS045 is usually operated by a 747-400.

Depends on the parents. They make all the difference when it comes to children travelling, regardless of class of travel.

Would rather have a child travelling with good parents that show spatial awareness than certain adults I have had the misfortune of flying with that don't know when to stop (alcohol being the usual factor).

We just flew from LAS (old PE seats) with our eight month old, who only just fit into the skycot. We actually found it easier to leave him on our laps than take him out everytime there was turbulence (only 3 times, but it is always when you are asleep).
