I booked a Great Escapade fare at the end of last week (so I can do some travelling en route to my new home in Adelaide) and was told it would be e-ticketed. However, I've just received paper tickets and when I put the booking code into the VA site, it says it isn't recognised, which means I can't alter my seat request (first flight is on VS7 and I'm not sure which PE seat they've assigned me so far).

Anyone know if I need to wait for a separate e-ticket to trigger the use of the booking code online? [?]

Thanks in advance

I thought all GE fares had to be paper ticketed???

If you give any of the GE members a call they can allocate seating over the telephone from the booking ref off your paper ticket.

If you are taking sectors in Y on NZ or SQ, they can allocate you Economy exit row seating over the phone unlike VS..[V]

Thanks, Tallprawn. I guess I'm really just wondering whether I'll ever have the facility to choose my seats online for the VS metal leg (and also add my API online), rather than having to do it by phone where I can't really tell for sure what's going on. Considering VS already deleted my itinerary once, I'm reluctant to let them near it again [V]

Thanks for the tip on ANZ - is it worth calling them now to pre-book seats, or waiting until I need to re-confirm the flights 72 hours before (as per VA's info)?

Hi Kerry,

Exit rows are first come first served on NZ. I would call them asap to truy and snare one. I would imagine they would be long gone if you it till 72 hours before you travel...:D

NZ calls are transfered through to their local call centre in AKL at their cost by the way...:D

Thanks, Rob but unfortunately I just got off phone with ANZ - can't pre-book exit seats, so I'm guessing they must have changed the rules on that one [:(] Got window seats pre-booked though, so hopefully they won't get changed.

Damn, that's a shame if they have stopped. I secured myself an exit seat via telephone for AKL - SFO in January just gone via the call centre.

Ask when you get to check-in, it's certainly worth a shout. Good luck and enjoy your trip..:D

The GE can now be e-ticketed by VS, if only SQ,NZ and VS are in the itinerary, which is great for convenience sake! But if there are any connecting flights with another carrier, the tickets would be issued on Paper in conjunction with the (paper) GE ticket.

As for the reference number not working, was this booked with another agent or direct with VS?

online bookings with more that 4 or 5 sectors cannot be viewed on VAA website... one limitation as GE tends to have a few more sectors than normal.

Hope that helps,

Juliet

Juliet,

Thanks for the clarification - my ticket is only with VS and NZ, but I have 6 sectors, so I guess that's why it's not available online.

Thanks,

Kerry
