I think it is fair to say that the Virgin brand got a bit of a kicking with Virgin Trains, and has never really recovered. There have been a number of other Virgin ideas that have fallen flat as well.
I was not a fan of Diamond Cable when it first set up in out area. NTL didn't do anything to improve the customer service image and, so far Virgin media hasn't pulled any trees up either. [n]
The idea of SRB being some magic man who can turn brands around, simply by allowing them to use the Virgin name, doesn't really wash any more unfortunately.
