Likely freeing up of Miles u/g seats on VS 08

I'm booked to return to the UK in PE on the VS8 LAX-LHR on Friday 12th Oct and currently there are no miles upgrade seats available. They've said "call back nearer departure" to see if any more are released; does anyone have any experience on additionally available upgrade seats in UC on this route?

I wouldn't hold your breath [:(] - there are only 4 UC seats showing as available.

Yes, I got 1 freed up in April at the checkin desk, and in May 2 days beforehand. It helps having the Gold Card I believe, as the FC will let you have the seat 48 hours before.
