FastTrack arrivals is not available to UK passport holders. You do have the option to sign up for Iris which is the biometric immigration trial though if you hold a UK passport (you have to sign up on your departure though once airside at LHR).

It's much quicker than any of the fastTrack lines [y]

Thanks, I don't think Jimbob247Jnr will stay still long enough for that though!

Just do IRIS and don't worry about the FastTrack silliness

Exactly. It's also less distance to walk and much quicker, and open to anyone who registers.

Oh, it is only a few hundred extra feet! DO NOT ENROL IN IRIS! IT IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH! Warning: Using IRIS after a long haul flight can increase your DVT risk. Maybe.

OK Iris scan is the quickiest way through LHR immigration and is fantastic if you have hand luggage only. However, if you have checked luggage I find you end up waiting at the carousel and see all the people who were at the immigration lines. The time spent at one or the other normally amounts to the same total.

Just my views, iris is a great system(with hand luggage) but flawed by BAA baggage handlers.

Have to say, the past 3/4 times I've landed back at LHR things have actually gone really smoothly. IRIS straight off the plane, bag one of the first out on the belt [y]

Years back, I once tried (insisted) using the Fast Track lane, even with a UK passport. As a learning exercise, it was great - even though there were 10 people in the line vs. ~50-60 in the UK one, it took me more than twice as long to get through [:0]

Still, I'm sure it's better than using the regular non-UK line.

We have used the Fast Track line a couple of times even though we are UK Passport holders, oh and on one occasion we were refused access to the line for that reason (which is, after all, correct).

I must concur with Paul's observations, our experience on both occasions was just that, a shorter line but longer to process.

I have never been refused fast-track access on the occassions I have used it when the UK line looks a little too long.

However, most of the time, the UK line is much quicker.

What? I don't think this is going to be helpful to anyone, unless of course you can point us at the irrefutable, peer-reviewed clinical research supporting your assertion...[:?]

Iris seems like it would be great....if it works! Finally convinced my OH to sign up for Iris. We were flying with hand luggage only, so were hoping to beat the queues on arrival back at LHR Monday evening of the bank holiday. We tried to sign up in T1 on our way out on the Th before. It was closed. Seems it didn't matter....as Iris was closed on the way back in as well so we wouldn't have been able to use it. ggrrr.

I love the iris scanner, no interaction with the "lovely" immigration people at LHR.

You don't have to have a UK passport, my OH holds an Aussie passport and has registered.
