You should be able to use this lounge in Sydney airport as a Gold FC member:

Sydney
Upper Class passengers are invited to unwind in the Air New Zealand International Lounge located in Terminal C - enjoy a snack in the cafe, sit back with a drink at the bar or make use of the business facilities.

Hi gingerflyer,

Thanks for the info :) I'm just worried that you need to be an UC pax to access it unless they treat FC gold just as a UC pax...

Yep, It's nice and easy.

If you present your AU card at check-in, the agent will give you a VS CH invite which you can use to enter the NZ lounge.

The lounge is a reasonable place to send a few hours at SYD, the views out across the airport are excellent. :D
