fare listing change on US website

I am SO sorry to see that Virgin have decided to go back to listing fares without tax/fees on the website. I did reply enthusiastically when they asked for feedback about whether they should continue the whole fare practice--and still wonder why not? In fact--i think it should be practice for ALL airlines to list the whole fare up front.

And also curious as the fee/tax-free fares shown on the VS site do not seem to correlate in any way to what expert flyer shows (significantly less) for the same flights.

The fares on the VS site do show taxes etc[?] I've been looking a numerous different fares all day, and have just checked now and the fares shown def do include tax. Is this something VS are doing different on the US site to the UK one?

hmmm..just checked out a fare on the Uk flight--booking bos-lon and it does not indicate that it is not total fare but when you hit fare breakdwon--the numbers don't work. EG--for a fare advertised in the matrix for 458$--the fare breakdown shows at:

USD 336.00 each Adult (1 total)



USD 336.00 Total fare for all
USD 286.39 Taxes, fees, charges & surcharges



USD 622.39 Total

So where does the $458 come into it? Mysterious and mysteriouser...
However if booking lon-bos it is all price inclusive. I wondered if this was what may have been happening when the US site was down for quite a while the other day... and BOO!

Still don't understand the price breakdown--and the mysterious posted matrix fare.

As Neil has said, this appears to be a question concerning the US website, as the UK version clearly shows the full fare on the price matrix.

That being so I have changed the title of the thread slightly in the hope that our American readers can help roadrunner out.
