I noticed today on the VAA website, that it states in the section on clubhouses that are for "Upper Class passengers" - is this just an error in that Au card holders flying on VAA also have access rights to clubhouses or has something changed? I'm sure it's the former...hopefully

It's on the page describing the various clubhouses, and it explicitly says "for upper class passengers" and nothing about Au holders.

ah, slight correction - it's talking about shared lounges... does that make a difference?

It's because it's on the page specifically relating to the services available to Upper Class passengers. A look in the "Gold Member benefits" pages will also state that these are accessible to Au passengers.

I don't think it's a problem/error. All seems correct for the specific area these pages are within.

On the Gold benefits page of the VS website it says Gold members get- Access to Virgin Clubhouses around the world when flying in any class on Virgin Atlantic for you and an accompanied guest

AFAIK this also applies to shared lounges - I have been into the lounges at ORD BOS and MIA without a problem.

Yes Nick, you're correct. It also applies to shared lounges.

And of course, so long as you are flying on a Virgin flight, you can buy access into Virgin Clubhouses if you book via Virgin holidays (I don't think you can buy access into non Virgin owned but shared lounges)

Alan,

I *thought* that was limited to LGW & LHR. Not sure it's possible to buy access to any other Clubhouse round the world with VH. [:?]

...unless you've heard differently?

It is only possible to buy access to LHR and LGW, and those sales are limited on a 'space available' basis.

It however possible to gain entry to shared lounges in a variety of ways, e.g. some are Priority Pass lounges.
