I've (literally) just booked a VH flydrive return MAN-MCO for a litle treat before the rigours of winter set in. Attempting to book a specific outbound seat I'm met with a note saying that I cannot do so and that seats will be allocated at check-in. I have, however, no trouble in booking inbound.

Not quite the response I was looking for [n]

Any experiences of this in the past?

All the possible seats for pre allocation (60% of the a/c) could already be taken, best/quickest thing to do would be to give FC a call and see if they can allocate some for you.

Thanks for that, Neil. Just rang FC who told me that they could not allocate a seat either but suggested that I 'get to the airport early'. Thanks for that FC [?]. Oh and, belay my last remark, I can't book inward either even though the flight is showing seats available for booking.

And here was me labouring under the (obviously) misapprehension that VH and VS were sister companies [:?]

If you have just literally booked (ie today) then VS might not have got all the details through from VH yet. Also, like I said in my first reply if the flight is fairly close or during say the half term break then there is a good chance that all the 60% has been taken.

OLCI is your best bet I reckon now, make sure you do it exactly 24 hours before your flight and you should be able to bag some good seats still.

Not sure when you've booked for, but apart from half-term in October, November is pretty busy too.

TCD have canx a lot of their departures from November onwards and many of their clients re-booked with VA during the sale, may have something to do with it.

Thanks for that Jilly. But I still don't understand how the system will let me view available seats for the inbound leg but not let me book them [?]

Definitely stumped on that one - I've only ever seen the option to either request seats or not being able to see the maps because the allocation is full. Sorry.
