Hi

Simple choice, which is the best airport to fly to JFK or EWR - just a one way trip so looking at both 4pm flights out of LHR.

Can anyone recommend one over the other?

Will be staying somewhere central, eg. close to Times Square or Central park/5th Avenue area.

EWR anyday.
Quick to get through the airport and quick and easy to get to Manhatten.
I hate JFK. Vile Airport

Was writing a longer mail comparing the two but ended up with the same conclusion. Especially comparing VS9 to VS1 JFK immigration can be horrendous and at the time of arrival into EWR the VS1 offers a very quick cab ride into town.

I'm avoiding all departures from JFK now too - further horrendous delays although at least the terminal and VS clubhouse are pleasant.

I normally fly in through EWR and out through JFK but this is mainly due to flight timings (last flight) on the way in and JFK CH on the way out.

Generally I prefer EWR although it is slightly more expensive as a Taxi ride. I normally take the Metro so JFK is a little easier as I stay around 57th.

Generally I would go with EWR though.

EWR has always seemed to be quicker through Immigration and customs and there have been great views of Manhattan when flying in

EWR outbound is likely to be preferable over JFK it seems, these days, due to the hellish taxi delays at JFK.

I'm considering flying through BOS next time I have to do an NYC trip, and I'm not under any time pressure. From there I've got the choice of train, drive, or a short hop to LGA.

Ask Nick;) Oops, was that banter?[}:)]

P.S. He'd say EWR (as would I)

Thanks everyone.

Which Upper seats to choose for a couple on the cigar tube!

2,3,4,5 K or 9,10,11,12 A

Would look at sitting side by side but would prefer the view of the D row wall rather than looking at a stranger.

Sorry to offend - but away from bassinet position too.

Any assistance appreciated.

We were in 9/10A and 10/11A on our recent trip.

9 gets the advantage of a little curtain between it and 8.

2/3 would be quite close to the toilets

I rather think that row 9 is where the bassinet places are

I was in row 3K for my last trip and didn't find it too near the toilets at all

I believe someone asked for my opinion?[:?]

Yes, EWR would be my choice.

Quick immigration every-time I've flown the VS1 and departure on the VS18 is usually very clean, though with EWR there are always departure delays.

My only experience was on VS9 back near August bank holiday. The flight was significantly delayed due to traffic at JFK and it took us 1.5 hours from landing to the gate. I was one of the last off the flight and the man queueing behind me at immigration just got off the VS25 which took off from LHR at 6pm. I finally left JFK at 11pm.
