Please excuse my ignorance and link me to another appropriate place where this question has probably already been asked with my humble apologies.

I do not understand what lead I have to buy, where from and how much they are to power my laptop onboard in Upper ( MAN > MCO )Do you have to always take out your battery for ANY laptop.

Does this gadget work ipods or is there one that will?

Technically yes, you must remove your battery and only use an empower lead if you wish to use a lap-top whilst on-board.

Basically you are not supposed to use the on-board power to just charge your lap-top so I take that as meaning you can either use your lap-top on battery and not plugged in or you can use your lap-top plugged in without the battery in.

Having said that, I charged my lap-top on a recent flight and also used it with the battery in whilst being plugged in and nobody said anything to me.

This is the power pack I use. It has an empower airline socket along with a normal UK/European plug so can be used whilst on board and when you get to your destination (although you will also need a US travel adapter). You can get these for less than half that advertised price on eBay. You just need to make sure one of the tips will fit your lap-top. (I use a HP Pavilion DV2130ea lap-top which one of the tips in the above kit does fit)

With this bit of kit you can also buy add on iPod and various phone charger tips so it powers everything at the same time if you want it to.

The i-Go Anywhere 7500 has a secondary power outlet for iPod, Phone or whatever you want (power demand not withstanding).
