I'm not 100% sure about MPM fares, but with normal fares if you dont show for the first leg of your flights, the rest of your booking becomes void.

The only way could get this to work would be to book the MPM fare from the other end ie starting in CPT, but not sure you can do that either, sorry.

I have a similar problem on london shanghai. All the reward and miles plus money tickets are available originating in london, but not originating from shanghai. It's most annoying!

MPM Can originate from other countries but you have to phone the call centre. It has something to do with flights originating from outside of your home country.

I have done this, although not from SA, on many, many occasions. Until VS and others give one way fares a break I will continue to use the system to my advantage.
