I think they're in different locations too. Usually Virgin's aircraft go to Amsterdam to get maintenance done and I think somewhere in Ireland to get painted. If I'm remembering correctly that is.

Last few paints have been done at the paintshop at Schiphol.

G-VFAB's "Birthday Girl" paint was done at AMS, and I think all the 744 reliveries into the silver paint were done at AMS (the last 744 in 'old' white colours being G-VBIG), here's a nice pic of G-VBIG partially painted at AMS:

And, G-VELD post-repaint in 2003:

SR Technics at DUB usually do interiors, and most of the heavy checks on the Airbus fleet. That said, the A346 PE reseating and other A346 reconfigs were done by SR Technics at ZRH instead.

Maybe they take the plane out for a spin to get it to dry quicker in the same way that we ladies shake our hands in the air to help the nail varnish dry quicker [:o)]

Mike, some hangars do use the same facility for the c check & paint, basically a large curtain seperates that hangar bay from the others. A dedicated [aint hangar is preferable but can be difficult to guarantee it being occupied all the year round. As for the partially painted aircraft, if ex "D" check they might strip paint prior to inspections & then complete test flight prior to paint.

There is a big paint shop down at Filton, currently being kept busy with EK A330's & B777's.

V-ROY looks great on the outside, but very dodgy inside! They definately havent installed anything new in terms of seating. I like the new livery - but agree that it is very similar to the classic one!

Do we have any info about what the new economy seats might be like when they install them?

Yes, they've been installed for about a year or more now. However the only photo I've found in our gallery is here.

Thats the only pic i could find too. Wondering if VS will just recover the LGW seats and pass them off as new to save a few pennies? The LGW seat covers are defo in the same design, which lead to me thinking they had refitted the LGW fleet with the new seats.
