Hi - flew to New York last year c/o Virgin Atlantic and bought loads of mags to read for the flight - only to find that after final passport check at the gate - you could take your pick of mags - free!!![:(]Does this lovely perk extend to all Virgin flights? As we will be flying to Miami in 2 weeks time?
Thanks

Last November, we only got offered papers in the UC cabin at MAN. Sure, we got a good choice, i.e. all the non-tabloid papers, but if you wanted magazines, you had to buy your own in the terminal.

At the jet way on LGW (satellite gates) you tend to find a magazine rack from which you can help yourself

I've only ever seen Hello! and OK magazines at the gate, in addition to a selection of papers (usually the Daily Mail and Independent). Not really my cup of tea, but yes they are free.

Thanks,
Sarah

So long as I can get The Daily Mail, I am happy. I like a bit of liberal slant reading of the news once in a while. [:w]

Not as good as the choice in BA lounges (Economist, New Statesman, Spectator, several for the ladies ;) (Hello, OK, Home and Garden))

Ahem, not all of us read that claptrap you know. Actually, there are a large number of guys on this board that are absolute fanboys of Heat magazine!

Thanks,
Sarah

I don't think it's Heat magazine as such, more likely the specific "Torso of the Week" feature they run[:I]

I wouldn't bank on those mags n newspapers being there. Sometimes they have Hello but more often than not the choices are somewhat limited eg Poker World, Interior Design World, Paint Drying World...

Lipstick beat me to it, but I was going to say that I would be careful about relying on a supply of magazines / papers to suit your taste at the gate.

I would have some sort of fall back plan in the form or one or twoi of your favourites from World News. ;)
