Hi,

I've just made Gold, but I'm not sure why. Couple with this - and this will sound strange - I don't want to make Gold! I was expecting to qualify in January and this fitted with requalifying between Jan 2008-Feb 2009.

Here's my truncated flight history, as per my FC statement:

07 May 2006 Virgin Atlantic, HAV-LGW Economy 2
28 Sep 2006 Reward: Virgin Atlantic, LHR-JFK Upper Class o/w 0
01 Oct 2006 Reward: Virgin Atlantic, EWR-LHR Upper Class o/w 0
04 Apr 2007 Virgin Atlantic, LHR-DXB Upper Class 5
10 Apr 2007 Virgin Atlantic, DXB-LHR Upper Class 5
02 Oct 2007 Singapore Airlines, LHR-SIN, First Class 7
03 Oct 2007 Singapore Airlines, SIN-SYD, First Class 7
22 Oct 2007 Singapore Airlines, SIN-LHR, First Class 7
22 Oct 2007 Singapore Airlines, SYD-SIN, First Class 7
01 Nov 2007 Welcome to Flying Club Gold.

Now, I make that 38 tier points in the 13 month window up to 22nd October 2007. Leaving me 2 tp's to make Gold.

I've contacted the Premier Team and they don't know why this may have happened either, and have asked me to mail the customer services email address, which I have done.

The only possible clue I have is this : A few years ago my company had an arrangement with Virgin - immediate Silver membership and just 20 TP's to make Gold, but this arrangement ended at least 18 months ago and was not renewed, and my account was never registered for this offer.

Would anyone have any ideas? I really don't want Gold at the moment, and don't see why I would make Gold at the moment either.

Thanks,

David.

Wow ... I don't want Gold. Wow!

They do make mistakes though, I know from experience. However, if you press it are you sure you want to be demoted?

I know! :D sounds very odd, but the thing is my next flights are Jan/Feb next year, and I don't intend to fly a lot next year but have a trip to Oz / RTW planned for Jan 09. Hence I probably won't requalify if my 13 months starts now.

I had planned to do a short BMI LHR-EDI run in January which would then make me Gold, then give me the 13 months in which I'm sure I'd requalify.

Thanks,

David.

Dilemma, dilemma--but is it? From what you have posted re TPs:
2+5+5+7+7+7+7

0r 2
10
28

12
28

Is that not 40?

But the 2 was from way over 13 months ago, RR - May 2006?

I know it sounds hilarious, turning down Gold (ordinarily, I wouldn't have objected!), but now I will definitely requalify for Gold in my 13 month Gold 'year'.

Thanks,

David.
