Great news. Just hope that she does that same run on the 19th of Oct.
Anyone know when the next 744 is going to be refitted?

G-VHOT positioned out as VS811 on Friday, so I'm guessing that's the next aircraft for the interior reconfig.

Barring unforseen events, or other maintenance requirements, it will probably just be one after the other.

The crew on my VS20 home this morning told me that they had spoken to the crew who worked G-VWOW into SFO on Friday, and they said it was quite nice, the new PE section looks pretty good and it seemed okay to work.

Currently sitting in CH with a PE boarding pass for VS45 (JFK) that has me assigned to 30H. By my estimation that means new configuration.

Hi All,

Which 744 registration(s) have the new config at this stage? Also how many 744's are they on the VS fleet?:)

On this subject, I just had to change my return from New York on Wednesday from the 2 to the 46, and when I asked to pre-assign a seat, the VS telephone agent said that she couldn't as there's no PE seat map currently available in their system. She said that there may be 'a change of the aircraft layout' and Expert Flyer also shows no seatmap for PE on that flight, so there may be a chance I'll get the new config. I'll report more as and when.

Yeah they haven't been certain for sometime on the 744 routes as they cant confirm which a/c you will get at that point. Once the majority of the 744s are done then i think that that the new layout will be as standard on the systems.

Flying out to DXB the other night, one of the crew said the 744 with the new config had been grounded??

edit: this is said to be due to the ability of VS to get the centre of gravity right on the aircraft - the UCS is heavy meaning the aircraft is nose heavy.

Sort of a wierd double this but having flown on VWOW at the beginning of the month I had the luck to fly on the newly reconfigured VHOT (PE)on the way back from JFK last night. TR to follow (I hope).

How does it work if the seat map is unavailable? Is there some secret seat assignment in my booking somewhere, or is it as soon I check in, one gets assigned? Just wondering what will be available when I attempt on line check in?

as far as im aware there are no plans to increase the number of J/W seats but new W seats would be nice! i think they were on about spring to start on them, lets hope they put v-port in :)

I am flying DEL-LHR-SFO and back this month, in PE, and the seat maps as well as assignments basis new layout on the 747 sectors LHR-SFO-LHR are already up in the manage your flight webpages, running, and done. I will certainly miss the upper deck and the brilliant photo-ops from those portholes, but that's that.

i have worked the new PE and i really like it, the mood lighting is wicked on a night flight and the cabin looks ace, will upload some pics as soon as i can. the only down fall at the minute is that there are still 2 crew even though the number of PE seats has doubled, so you may find the service a little slow, my advice is to get a seat near the front so you aren't waiting too long. I need to work this config again though as the last time we did it we flew to SFO on th old config then new config back so we had extra crew. We had a wicked CSS who decided to just put 4 juniors in PE those passenger got a fab service, and all left with smiles, But that wont really happen now 3 planes are done. hope you have a wicked experience though.
happy flying

The company should have put 4 crew in the new W config anyway. Instead they take a crew member off in order to save £12k per year. Surely the extra revenue generated in W will easily cover the cost of the crew member now removed.
