Hi all,

I am going on holiday in July of next year and will have achieved silver FC status by that point.

I am part of a group (8 people in total) will we therefore all the able to check in at the PE desk at LHR eventhough I will be the only FC member.

We are all on the one booking but i am not the lead person if that makes any difference.

Many Thanks

CHRIS

Hi there, well I'd certainly try although I'm not sure even if there is a rule that specifies whether you can or not. If I were you, I'd go in first and say that your friends / family are you in your party!

You never know thought, by that date all the new fandango auto kiosks might be working efficiently, so that may be a better option.

Personally, I would doubt it but don't know the answer. The last few times I have used the UC check in when travelling in Y or PE, the security person hasn't asked to see my gold card. They used to be hot on it at one time.

I think this is one to check with the FC before travel to save any embarrassment at the airport.

I'd say you are entitled to it by virtue of all being on the same booking.

If you were on separate bookings I'd call taking seven others as taking the p!ss. Not that I travel much with anyone but my wife but personally I don't have any qualms about checking in up to three people with me if they are on separate bookings (and we are travelling together!)

Go for it!

Let me ask a slightly different version of the same question:

How would you feel if, having earned the right to check-in using the PE desks on your own, 8 people traveling in economy with only one silver card were in front of you, holding you up? [:?]

No the simple is no you cannot, it is one guest only per eligible Ag/Au cardmember. Eight is frankly taking the piss.

I'm with Richard on this one, my understanding is the Ag/Au FC member and guest traveling with them on the same flight. That is guest singular not a party.

You never know - depends how busy it is I suppose....but I would be mightly annoyed if I was travelling and used my Gold to check-in at Upper, to find that there were 7 people checking in with one other Gold card member! Maybe I am just a grumpy old traveller!

Whereas if that were me I'd welcome their chutzpah and encourage them to earn more / pay more to do it on a regular basis.

(but only once!}

Well, I used my Gold to check in at Upper for an Upper Class flight, and was sent across to the PE desk as none were doing anything.
Imagine the loss of face if any of my peers had seen me at the PE desk [:I]

If it's quiet I'd smile sweetly and try your luck. Your are entitled to use the facility, and they can only politely tell you that it's one companion only, but since you are all on the same booking the system can't allow you to split up.

Checking in at LGW for a LAS flight I was advised that only the cardholder could use the PE check in desk when flying Y?

Last Saturday there was a group of 3 at PE check in, one was AG, and the agent let them into the line as it was quiet. But she did tell them the limit was 1 guest.

I'd have thought it may be different depending on who the additional guests are. I wouldn't see any problem with a family of four (i.e. two kids) where one of the parents was Au or Ag being in the PE or UC in front of me but a stag weekend to Vegas with 8 already merry pax would be another issue altogether.

Oh and I'm pretty sure that you can still check in seperately even if you are under one booking - have done this many times on other airlines.

I'm an AU card holder and managed to get a party of four Y-class travellers through the UC check-in desk in Las Vegas on Saturday.

I asked the guy on the desk, suggested it should just be me plus one but he waived us all through anyway.

I'd try it but eight is a big crowd...
