I'm planning a trip next year flying UC, and the J fare is lower than 2 x Z fare (which I too found surprising!!)

My question is related to when and how a companion ticket needs booking.

I plan to pay for my ticket (the J) using Thomas Cook vouchers as I have quite a lot. Once I've booked this, can I then call VS and use my Amex companion reward to book a 'Free' G? The reward ticket would be on exactly the same services (it's for the OH).

[The Miles and TP earning benefits for the 'companion' are of less value to me than the ability to use Thomas Cook vouchers to pay for the trip. The CDC service is an added bonus]

I've checked the Virgin T&C (especially 4.3.2) and this seems feasable, but any Guru advice would be welcomed.

Many thanks in advance [oo]

Yup - that's exactly how to do it. I WOULD, however, check that there are G's available on the flights you want to travel on first (and if possible, get FC to hold them for you for 24 hours while you get the J ticket paid for...)

Great - thanks for the confirmation, and especially on the advice to get the G's held.

Getting them to hold a G if available shouldn't be a problem, I currently have 2 held for 48 hours.
