My wife-to-be and I are flying Upper Class from London - LA next June and I was wondering which seats would be best? According to the map on the Virgin website the aircraft is the 747-400 (I think - it's the one where the upstairs is all UC and no PE). Is it best to sit near the bar or does that get noisy? Any thoughts much appreciated!

Try the seat ratings page on V-Flyer. The newly reconfigured 744's (config 4) have only been flying about a month or so, so there wont be as many passenger opinions as with the old config, but if you want to sit on the main deck in UC, i'd just refer to the config 1 seat ratings.

Everyone has their own personal favourites, and you can find a multitude of threads on this subject in the forums if you do a quick search. Personally, i'd go for two next to each other, like 14&15K. The bar can get noisy and it is best to try and sit away from it if you can. That way you can enjoy it when you want to, but not have to hear others enjoying it when you want a bit of sleep.

Enjoy your flight! [y]

Thanks,
Sarah

I prefer the nose section of the 747 (rows 12 to 19 in the new configuration) and tend to go for 15 or 16K as that is the shadier side on westbounds.
