Hi Lyton,

Welcome to VirginFlyer.

With the notable exception of VS3/4, which is operating the Suites-fitted aircraft, Virgin don't put a particular aircraft on any specific routes or publish their operations schedule in advance. The best (and only) prediction is available on this site in the 'Which Aircraft' section. Here is a link directly to the LHR-IAD route: http://www.virginflyer.com/chance.asp?flight=VS021

As you can see, nearly half the time in the last three months, they've used a A340-600 (and for some reason, V-GOGE was used nearly all the time in October). However in the last month the pattern has been pretty mixed between 747's & Airbuses (Airbusi?) - so probably one of the most difficult to predict.

You can normally get an indication of the aircraft scheduled to be on the flight if you call the Flying Club a couple of days before your flight - although there is always the rider that the aircraft can change at any time (literally right up until the point it takes off).

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I've not flown Virgin for a while - the very first time I flew with VS to DC was just after they started their service there and it was an old 747 - inside was really hanging.

So I changed to BA and then flirted with United then a few years ago I thought I would try VS again but this time I had a A340 and it was minging - filthy and I was sat in economy right in front of the washroom so the chair hardly reclined and all I heard all night was the toilet seat banging and the flush going so I went back to BA and United.

Anyhow, a friend of mine flew to DC at Xmas and had VPort on a 747 and raved about the service etc. So I figure third time lucky - the plan may be nice and I may enjoy it! I'm in PE coming back so looking forward to seeing what they are like now.

Funny this is the 2oth time I've been to DC and only the 4d time with VS.
