I'm thinking of biting the bullet and booking an upper class ticket for my Xmas trip home from SFO this year. Looking at a few of the travel websites, the CO versions of VS 19/20 are at least $1000 cheaper ($2600 for CO, $3600 for VS). Is there any disadvantage to a Flying Club member travelling on a CO ticket - do you get the same tier points, miles, status milage bonuses etc. ? Given that a full fare upgradable W fare costs around $2000 or so, the CO deal seems really good.

Thanks,

K

So far as I can recall, the downside is fewer tier points (2 not 5 per sector); these days you do get miles on qualifying (J, D, Z) fare codes.
