Although a VS staffer I guess I should know this, but alas I have no clue

I'm sending my folks to Cape Town next month, on what originally was a direct flight but as we all know, everything is routed via JNB prior to November. They are connecting on from JNB to a Nationwide flight in both directions. Their a bit old and I'm certain this is their first attempt at transiting, so any advise anyone can give on how to get them from a VS flight to a Nationwide flight in both directions, I would be most grateful. The more detail the better so I can print it out and put it in my old mans top pocket for easy reference!!!

Cheers

Err... sorry, this is old information. For over a year the new domestic terminal has been open at JNB. The terminals are now A (International) and B (Domestic).

In order to get from International Arrivals to Domestic Departures you need to turn left out of the terminal, go up a level using the esclators and then trot about 200m along the walkway.

You can find maps of both terminals that show the walkway on the ACSA web site.

Thanks everyone. One more question. If their baggage is checked through to Cape Town at LHR, do they have to claim their bags in J'Burg as this is the first International point of arrival then walk with the bags to the domestic terminal to then check in at Nationwide? Or is there a flight connection centre of some kind prior to immigration, where they can go through the immigrtion process when arriving at Cape Town instead?

Great map Black cat!!

I don't think there is a flight connection centre. However, prior to the building work for terminal B, there used to be a few domestic desks for transit purposes opposite international arrivals. They weren't there last time so we had to walk with the bags... worth looking out for the desks anyway.

Last time I did a similar thing (CPT via JNB) was a couple of years back on SAA.

There were plenty ong uys around just after bag reclaim and customs that will carry your bags to the right place for you. Just remember to have a few smaller $$$ bills.

They're all very friendly and keen to help - should be fine.
