Good morning.
I wonder if anyone can help me on this subject? Have tried the "search engine" but can't find any info there.
Have tried to price/book a return ticket to Sydney with stopovers @ Hkk in both directions, but with no luck.

Also, I would really prefer to leave Australia from Darwin to Singapore then on to Hkk to join the return Virgin flight, but the only airlines fling the Darwin/Singapore route seem to be Qantas or Australian Airlines, neither of which VA have an agreement with.

Anyone got any suggestions or information which might help?

Failing all else, suppose I shall have to book my trip with Qantas all the way, but would really like to experience the Virgin service on the Lhr/Hkk/Syd route.

hi shoreside

i know on the VAA nett contract (consolidated fare) HKG stopovers are ONLY permitted on the return journey. To fly from darwin to sin then back to hkg to then fly home would be considered as "back tracking" and so not many airlines will allow this.

hope this helps a bit.

Ok well this is a strange one! as has been mentioned on previous trhreads the launch of SYD is rahter strange- not much info etc. Everytime i have rung FC they have never known the answer to my questions but that doesnt really help u out with regards to stopovers- if u can wait till Jan before booking then do as the route will be running and more people at VS reservations will know what is happening etc!

Now with regards to wanting to get to Darwin. There are two options:

1. Fly VS to SYD then catch an internal flight on QF or DJ to Darwin. But remember that DJ dont have any agreements with VS but at least u will fly a virgin of sorts the whole way!

2. Darwin is served by only 3 International Airlines, Qanatas (Australian is QF's all Y class carrier operating CNS-Darwin-SIN), Garuda and Royal Brueni! So if u want to fly to Darwin I would say your best bet is on BA/QF not VS.

Is your departure from Darwin absoultly nessaccary? I mean if I was you I would fly QF or I would fly back to SYD but you must remember that it would be a 4 hour 15min flight back to SYD then a transfer in SYD and then flying onton Hong Kong almost over Darwin! Also the departure of the VS from SYD is at 4pm which means leaving Darwin at 1.15am and a wait of around 10 hours in SYD airport.

If I was you I would just fly QF for the ease!

1. I make a point to NEVER travel with Qantas. Their service is just absolutely garbage. It`s not worth the fare, and the crew are so demoralised it`s not funny, and unfortunately it shows in their service. For the last year or so, they`ve been feeding passengers out of a cardboard box....it wasn`t popular.

2. Fly Virgin Blue from DWN-SYD, enjoy the day in Sydney with the $100 you saved by flying with DJ, then enjoy the VS lounge before taking off at 16.00.

3. I highly recommend flying with VS the entire way. They are far more superior service to Qantas and you won`t regret it.
