Hi,

I'm travelling for the first time on VS45 to JFK ( can't wait to try the UCS :D)and I need to get a connecting flight from EWR.

Can any of you guys tell me the best way to get from JFK to EWR and how long I should allow for the connecting flight?

My final destination is TUL.

Thanks for your help ;)

Most hassle free is to take a taxi - I guess it'll cost around 70USD+Tolls+Tips.

There are shuttle buses you could take fairly directly costing around 30USD - See here http://www.goairporter.com/ewk_to_jfk.html

If you're a real massocist but want a cheap option (I know - unlikely) you can use the AirTrain. See here http://www.panynj.gov/airtrain/contact.html#tonewark

I am assuming that flying into EWR on VS001 does not suit as it arrives too late for the connection - otherwise I would have to advise this option. Allow at least 2 hours (3 might be better) for the transfer.

Andy,
Yes, it may cost more but I think that I would call a car service and have them meet you either outside security at JFK, or on the street(they'll charge more to meet you inside but will have your name on a sign). They usually charge a flat rate from airport to airport, their cars often are a bit newer and cleaner, the air conditioning will work and the drivers will likely not be listening to music you hate or talking on their cellphones.

Just to give you an idea I went to Carmel Limo website (http://www.carmellimo.com) and typed in a request for JFK/EWR and here are the booking choices that came up (if you want inside pickup it's US25 additional). If you want a newer vehicle choose Luxury Sedan.

Have a good trip. Regards, Chuck-

Andy,
Almost forgot something important. Depending upon the traffic from JFK and the route taken by your driver you should allow up to two hours to get to EWR.

Andy,
Good call, I think. Anyway if you do UC out of EWR on the way back, don't forget there's a Clubhouse at EWR. It's small but the staff is very pleasant and I was impressed with the food, drinks and comfort level -- quite intimate, really.

Have a safe trip and we'll look forward to your TR of course.

Regards,
Chuck-
PS: Don't forget to splurge on a newer vehicle; Carmel has some clunkers.
