Hi guys,

I'm flying from HKG to SYD in a little over 3 weeks in PE. I currently have 19A and 19C selected for myself and my partner. From what I can tell these are standard PE seats with no problems in terms of location? Can anyone advise?

Also, what are the chances of getting Row 18 at check in in Hong Kong?

Cheers

Row 21 is fine. They are normal PE seats with full windows, not much more to add really. Getting row 18 is most of the time down to luck, best option you have is to get to the check in for it opening and keep your fingers crossed, obviously though with it being the HKG-SYD leg there might be some LHR pax doing it straight through who have already bagged it.

I have managed to get Bulkhead and Exit row seats on every flight for the last 14 months by getting to checkin no later than 2.5 hours before the flight time. Good luck.

Row 18 on both the A346's and the A343's are always blocked, even at check-in. Some agents seem able to un-block them whilst others cant. It can be a bit hit and miss.

You do often find though that several seats in row 18 are not occupied so after take-off you can move (but you will need to be quick!!)

While I have found agents who have told me they are blocked, I have never had a problem getting them unblocked. Often if the agent does n't have the seniority to release them, they should call to get them released.U Unfortunately some of them do not know the procedure to get them released.

Yep, I've noticed that.

Agent: 'Sorry, there are no window seats left'.
Mike: 'Even row 18?'
Agent: 'That's blocked'
Mike: 'Can you release it?'
Agent: 'No, only the gate can do that' (bit of a fib)
Mike: 'That's okay, I'll have the Concierge do it in the Clubhouse.'
