A comment about this was made here

You walk past the Travelex desk towards the internet cafŽ and coffee bar. You will see the lift that brings you up from the check-in area and next to it there is an entrance area with VS signage on the door so there would be no issues for people who pre-order currency from Travelex and need to collect it, as you can visit Travelex before entering the Upper Class wing.

The only time you wouldn't be able to visit the land-side Travelex desk is if you arrive via a CDC as they drop you off within the Upper Class Wing area.

Although, even then, until you go though security, you are still technically land-side so I guess once you have dropped your bags and recevied your boarding card, you could ask to through to the normal check-in area using the non-CDC Upper Class Wing entrance, scanning your boarding card to get back into the Upper Class Wing area once you have collected your money [:?]

Ah, no good.

Being in EDI, I can pre-pay and pickup airside EDI, with no queue, in advance of my flight down to LHR..
