The regular south check in desks..works very well as well

Treelo

It is the 'regular' South Terminal check in desks that are used.

Twilight is undertaken at a small number of the economy desks - there are no separate desks for PE or Upper.

That said, every time I have used it in the early evening there has hardly been a queue, so this is not a problem

Agree with buns. If you are flying in PE or UC, or have Ag/Au status then don't bother with Twilight Checkin - the time I tried to use it for my parents it was awful.

we have used the twilight Check-in a couple of times and found it quiet and worthwhile if traveling Y and/or if staying at an Airport Hotel

That's precisely what we will be doing (and that will be a first too). Have stayed pre-flight at Heathrow but not yet at Gatwick. Even though we have recently attained Ag (thanks for the link Richard [y]) I might take a look at the Twilight option.

So how does this ÒTwilight Check-inÓ work when staying overnight at the airport hotel ??

As for an overnight stay, you're going to need, toothpaste & other ÒliquidÓ toiletries, which you can't take in your hand baggage thru security the next morning & your check thru bags are already out of your possession having been checked in the night before!!

Or am I missing something here ??

Options are to use the Hotel's offerings, take some stuff that you are happy to throw away or check in one bag in the morning.

We have used Twilight as we live locally and it saves the hassle in the morning of arranging transport.

Kered, i have the same thoughts as you on the subject.

If you do Twi-check, you are checked in and have your boarding passes, so for those (particularly Economy) passengers that want to ensure they have certain seats or seats together then its a worthwhile venture. You can always check in another bag (with your toiletries, etc) on the day of departure. though you'll still have to do battle with the bag drop desk.

For anyone with FC status or travelling in PE or UC, i really dont see the advantage.

Thanks,
Sarah

Or leave the kit you have used at the hotel in your boot to take home again at the end of your trip [:w]

Ah yeah, I can see where it would come in handy for the ÒY TravelersÓ .

However we're lucky enough to be travelling in UC, so I think on balance, we'll just take our stuff to the hotel the night before & check in really early in the morning & max our time in the Clubhouse. [8D]

(on that note, how early does check in open at LGW ?)

Good idea [y]

However that won't work, as we're flying in DUB Ð LGW the night before our MCO flight.

Or else do as we do when we fly in the night before and use OLCI to ensure as much as possible to nab our chosen seats
