I here on the grape vine that there will be a re-structure of the senior management team and directors shortly, in a bid to make the airline improve operations and reduce costs !
I'm actually pleased that Steve is starting to take more of an externally visible role as a senior face of Virgin Atlantic.
He's always been there in the background for many years, but has been overshadowed by SRB's persona and influence in the public eye, while he's been charged with the actual business of getting aeroplanes flying around with people inside, earning money.
It's somewhat reassuring to see Steve carving his own path in this area, and outside of the more usual aviation and transport industry publications and circles.
I think it sends out a message that Steve is in touch with the industry generally as well as with his own business, and has opinions on things which affect the course of the airline, whereas in the past he may have appeared to be disinterested, remote and inaccesible, even if that isn't the case.
