Just wondered if anybody knows where the new PE seats on the LGW 747`s are going to be located. I`ve been reading that they are going to move all PE seats downstairs[n]

Is there any truth in this? And, if it is true, is it also true that they will be in the nose where UC seats currently reside? Hope there isn`t a thread on this already somewhere else[:)]

Upper Class by law can not exclusively be upstairs. With that in mind, I cant think it will be anywhere (else) but (also) at the front of the plane, so I very much doubt that PE will be in the front.

Hmm, I thought all the LHR 747s have an all UCS upstairs. I'm sure one of our more knowledgeable gurus will confirm this.

Yes, LHR 744's does have an all upstairs UCS, but it is aso downstairs. Any class offered on the upper deck MUST by law be offered downstairs so that people unable to use the stairs still have acsess to that class of travel, hence the mini PE cabin on the main deck at LGW.

As has been mentioned in many a thread recently on here, nobody 100% knows when/if the new PE seats will be installed on the LGW/MAN fleet. Also, there has been nothing from Virgin about a reconfig of these a/c, so when/if the LGW fleet do have the new PE seats installed then we can only believe that they will just replace the current seats like for like.

Equality rights in the UK mean that airlines must offer all classes on the lower deck so those who can't climb the stairs are not discriminated against, so that almost certainly rules out VS having UCS only on the upper deck.

Thanks for all the replies. It looks as if there will almost certainly have to be something other than just UC upstairs[y]

That`s great because it`s one of the biggest selling points for me when i come to book PE.

i have just returned on vs44 from vegas on English Rose, cabin crew advise the new carpet upstairs (also on Ruby tuesday outbound)is to match the new PE seats that will be fitted. However having travelled the VS45 from New York 2 weeks ago also in PE, i question if the new seats are any better than the old ones. i found the leg rest on the old config more comfy and the seats on the LGW fleet more padded than that on the LHR new seat, although i did blag row 75 both ways spoiling me for leg room!

I hope they bring the mood lighting on the LHR744 to the LGW744 and also to the A340 aircraft make PE look really nice!!!

I see no reason why mood lighting cant be fitted through out all the aircraft in all cabins. If you ask me I think it is a great idea to. Other long haul carriers are starting to, so why cant VS? VX have in Y and F, in my opinion VS should in J W and Y. Its such a basic thing, but it makes traveling and resting much more relaxing rather than having no light, and then being woken up by bright white light coming on when you are asleep. I, and most people that travel, hate this. Im all for mood lighting in all cabins.
