I decided to fly UCS because I needed at least the chance of sleep. I knew that a night without sleep would adversly effect the rest of my very busy week. The car home was another reason and made a huge difference to the journey. Returning I took PE which was adequate for a day flight.

My first UC experience was pre-UCS, and the service, the old clubhouse and the whole experience was enough to convince me that this was the way I wanted to travel. So I guess that the suite is not the deciding factor for me. Howver, now that we have it, I'd really miss it. Same goes for the new Clubhouse. The old one was great, the new one is awesome. What does appear strange to me is that VA are happy to splash out millions on a new clubhouse and loads of cash on the suite, then cut back on the little things that cost pennies but help make the whole experience. I don't get it. [V]

I too prefereed the old seats, as does the wife, who is a bit terrified of take-offs and landings, and likes to cling on for dear life with eyes shut!
Very difficult with the new seating arrangement. Spend a lot of time on the footstool!The bed is excellent though, hated the old seat getting stuck in the extended position beacause something had got wedged beneath. The clubhouse experience and the extras are all just too addictive.

I think it's the whole package as well...I mean it's what really sets it apart from other carriers...

The In-Flight Bar is the perfect place to go to have a nightcap if you can't sleep...
Drive-Thru check-in makes Heathrow look like it's half as bad as it really is in terms of all the chaos at check-in...
The Clubhouse is the perfect excuse to arrive at the airport early, to relax, unwind, and to have a hearty breakfast...
The VS service is INCREDIBLE and OUTSTANDING as we all know compared to BA, United, Delta, Lufthansa, Air France, etc...
The food in UC is great....
Have not had one myself, but my sister says the IFBTs are phenomenal...
The IFE actually works!
The seat is brilliant, almost too perfect in my opinion....

VS would be just another airline without all the extras.....

Welcome ZooTVD - how should we parse your handle without causing offence? [;)]. I'm glad you find VS so amenable. I suspect you'll find yourself in disagreement with a number of people here whose experiences are diametrically opposed to your own! That said all of your points CAN be the case but one of VSs bete noires is inconsistency! I think the last five points will be the contentious ones...

It's all about the seat - or rather the bed. The extras make a real difference I know for the once a year/trip of a lifetime/leisure traveller, but as someone who does this flying thing for a living, the things I value most are:

* Sleep
* Speed on the ground
* Peace and quiet
* Space to work
* Laptop power
* Something vaguely edible to eat when I need it

..though the Clubhouse and T3 limo check in area are excellent too.

Many of the things that makes VS special for many (IFBT, AVOD, inflight bar) are meaningless to me.
