Hi all,

Mrs Kered & myself are off to MCO in a few weeks time, flying in UC (Yippee)[8D]

This trip will mark our return to VS after a few years absence & while Ive been in UC (J2000) before, it will be our first time in the Suite & Mrs Kereds first Upper Class trip. [:D]

But given that LGW operates primarily bucket & spade routes, Im wondering how diluted the UCS service is from LGW, compared to the Full Fat routes out of LHR ??

Ive been telling Mrs Kered, not to have her hopes up too much, as I doubt that the service will be the best that VS can offer.

So does the Clubhouse & onboard service typically stack up out of LGW ??

Service is generally excellent on board but you're lacking the IFBT. The Cluhouse is excellent tho' lacking in features compared to LHR.

It's not really diluted as such. Service-wise it can actually be better than LHR flights, as there are only 14 of you in Upper. And the size/layout of the cabin is very nice, has a good 'private' feel to it.

OK, so the LGW Clubhouse isn't the flagship product you get at LHR, but it's still very, very good and, once again, small can be beautiful (or that's what the-now Mrs. mdvipond tells me). The only other down-side is the lack of V-Port, but there's usually a decent seletion of films, and it's not like any flight from LGW will be the longest you've ever had to endure. Hope that helps...

Other than the different IFE and lack of IFBT, there's virtually no difference between UC from either LGW or LHR (in terms of on-board service anyway)

Actually the UC service is quicker and more personal on LGW flights due to their only being 14 pax instead of 45+ as there are in LHR UC cabins.

The LGW CH is still a very nice lounge, beating most other airline lounges [y]

Cheers for the replies guys [y]

Good to hear that the LGW service is pretty much the same as LHR routes. The IFBT, we can certainly live without & the IFE system isn't the end of the world.

I must say I'm quite looking forward to our UCS trip, as I really loved the old J2000 seats in the past & Mrs Kered is beside herself with excitment looking forward to her first Upper Class flight. Which was why I was worried that the LGW service wouldn't really be up to the mark compared to LHR routes, but now my mind is at ease on that score.

I've yet to set foot into the new LHR Clubhouse & I was hoping that the LGW CH is a good lounge & that seems to be the case based on your replies [8D]

Kered,

As the other have mentioned the only difference is the lack of IFBT/V-Port and the LHR CH feel. I do personally enjoy the LGW CH though.

Most of my UC flights have been on the B&S routes from LGW and I have enjoyed everyone of them. The cabin feels like your own little exclusive club with only 14 suites.
I did have v-port once out of LGW but it did not work for 90% of the flight. If you want to watch movies, Super Novo is very reliable.

Enjoy your trip anyway

Kered

Can i too add my endorsement to the fact that the Gatwick Clubhouse can in some instances be better in terms of service - you can still book treatments, have a shoeshine and enjoy a full range of breakfast menu items washed down with whatever does you good[;)]

I hope that your wife will find the Clubhouse experience just as magical as the first time Mrs Buns & I entered the Gatwick facility. I do know I was corrupted from there on in[:w]

The intimacy of the 14 seat cabin has a lot going for it as well[y]

Whilst the LGW CH may not have the wow factor (and in my opinion it's long overdue a bit of a makeover), it's unlikely that you'll be sat looking ravenous and de-hydrated for any period of time .IMHO the service level is much warmer and more attentive than at LHR and i'm sure neither you or your wife will be disappointed with what they have to offer.Have a great time.

All sounds good then [y]

I guess my fears were founded on experience with another British Airline who's LGW service can be somewhat ÒtamerÓ than their LHR services.

Definitely looking forward to the trip big time now [8D]
