Hello - I've just booked my first flight - VS600 and VS601 in Y class [y]

Must say I'm looking forward to my first VS experience. However on the Skytrax site there seem to be a lot of negative reviews about VS?

Anyway - hopefully they are a just very difficult people to please!

I have a couple of Q's:

- We have chosen seats 39 H and 39K. Have looked on the seat map for 346's out of LHR and no one has reviewed these seats - anyone know if they are any good? They were the furthest forward seats I could get.

- Now that we have chosen 39H and 39K is there any chance that these will be changed before we check in? Or if I was able to book these seats does that mean they were in the 60% available for pre-allocation on the site and we would be unlucky to have them changed??

Thank you

David

Welcome to V-Flyer David [y]

With A346 A/C, you will find that rows 31 to about row 38 in Y are always blocked at the time of booking and only open up once OLCI starts 24 hours before your flight.

Please dont read too much into what you see on Skytrax as it's been said many times that often it's the same old story where pax dont hesitate to write a report when something goes wrong but often dont make the effort to write something when everything actually works.

Hi David and welcome to the site (oh and [y] on booking your first VS flight)

Whilst there are no specific ratings for your chosen seats I imagine they will be very similar to all the H/K seats and the general ratings for those are good (33 H is rated as good on the site)

Your seat requests are just that at the moment, requests. What it means is that nobody else can select those seats at the moment. But due to either a a/c change or another reason that VS see fit they could move your seats, this happens very rarely but it's best to know so that you don't have 100% expectations that you will get those seats. A good tip is to use OLCI 24 hours before your flight and this usually makes sure you get your seats.

I would suggest reading through some TR's too, this will give you an idea of what can expect on board. If you do have any questions just ask and I am sure someone will do their best to help you out (but a good tip is to have a good read/search first as quite often a similar question will have already been asked/answered)

Enjoy the site and your flight
Neil

Thanks guys. Very helpful indeed!

So, if rows 31 to 38 are blocked until OLCI opens, is there a chance that we can actually get a seat further forward, providing we are quick with OLCI?

Yes quite possibly. The other 40% of seats open up at OLCI stage so you should be able to change if others are available.

My gf and I were able to pre-reserve 38AC from LAX-LHR on the A340-600 last summer and they're pretty decent seats, seem to be much of a muchness though. We have been able to pre-reserve 37AC on the same route this August as well so I think its 36 forwards that are blocked. The wing does get in the way of the view if that matters to you, but it does seem to be quieter than down at the back and of course you get off abit quicker. Be wary of going any futher into the low 40's though because there's toilets there and a water fountain in the middle of the aircraft which gets rather crowded.
Enjoy the flight!

Thanks. As long as 38 is not a 'duff' row, I dont mind about the wing. id rather be sooner off the plane so I queue less :)

Does VS have the cameras that you can pull up on your IFE screen to see out the front of the plane when taxiing, in the air, and landing?? I know they have skymap on V:Port, just wondered if they had the cameras too?

I went on MYT to BGI in 'PE' 6 years ago on a A330 at they had them - very cool!

VS a/c are fitted with these, but they are not available to view on the IFE they are only for the flight deck crew.

it is a real shame that they don't allow the passengers to watch - had them on a flight with Emirates, and was a different view to look at on take-off and landing!

Enjoy your flight with VS - can't comment on the seats as it has been a while since I have flown in Economy.
