Earn FC Tier Points On Non VS Flights In Europe

Hi all,
I'm a new poster to the forum however I hqve read many of the informative topics and useful posts that are available here.

My question (just as many have undoubtedly pondered) is based around the premise of earning Flying Club Teir Points when travelling domestically in the UK or on none long haul flights, say around Europe.

1. Is it possible to earn FC Tier Points when travelling either domestically in the UK or short haul inter Europe on None Virgin Metal in either Economy Class or Business Class?

2. Is it possible to earn FC Tier Points by alternate means, eg not flying but by some other method?

I'm sure you can all see where this is going [:?]

Whilst I do a reasonable amount of long haul businesss travel, generally in PE this doesn't necessarily mean I travel long haul enough to obtain enough points to move from FC Silver to FC Gold. I do however travel in Europe extensively. I would very much like to know if there are any undocumented / obscure methods, trips, flights or other things I can do of gaining additional Tier Points.

Congratulations on joining the V-Flyer forum, home of the most discerning, sophisticated and friendly travellers. I earn TPs through BMI. If you fly in their PE class you should get a TP for each leg of your journey. I get a couple every time I do a MAN - LHR return trip.

As already mentioned, you can earn VS TP's when flying BMI within Europe and on domestic flights.

From March 11th, BMI are changing the names of a couple of their domestic and inter-Europe fares.

BMI dont operate a business class cabin on most of their domestic flights anymore so you need to book what's currently called a premium economy fare (but will be called a economy flexible fare from March 11th - which is actually, a much more realistic description as all seats and on-board service are exactly the same as the rest of the cabin, the only difference being you get lounge access)

You will earn 1 Virgin Tier Point for each one-way BMI economy flexible fare flight on domestic routes.

The LHR-EDI and MAN-EDI routes still have a business cabin and again each one-way flight booked in business class will earn you 1 Virgin Tier point on these routes.

So to summerise :-

1) Fly BMI Domestic PE / Flexable Economy Fare to earn 1 TP per leg.
2) Fly BMI Business in Europe to earn 1 TP per leg

This now lead's me to ask the following

a) When flying into Europe does the traveller needed to be on actual BMI metal or simply booked with a BMI Flight Number even if travelling on alternate metal (such as Lufthansa)?

b) Will the Flexible Economy fare also earn TP's when flying into Europe or must the travel be booked as a Business Class fare?

c) Are there any other short haul airlines operating in the UK and Europe that we can earn TP's on?

d) Are there any other sneaky methods of earning TP's that anyone can point out?

For BMI (and all other partner airlines, excluding Singapore Airlines & ANA), flights under 2000 miles in economy don't earn Virgin Tier Points.

The reason why you still earn TP's on certain fares on domestic routes with BMI is that they used to offer business class on these routes and just renamed the service and dropped the seperate in-flight service business pax used to get.
