does this leisure flight have all the UC trimmings? sleep suites etc

I have just booked to MCO instead of flying LHR-MIA and saved over 2000 rtn - you can get rtn tickets from MAN-MCO for 1850 inc tax - I was quoted over 5500 vis ORD on BMI from MAN (scorching!!!)[:0]

MAN is considered by many to be the poor relation in the VS airport club.

No Clubhouse, LGW planes etc. etc.

Your best bet to get a flavour of what is available is to look in the trip report index and select those reports from MAN from the drop down menu.

I have never done VS from MAN, but I am sure lots of people will be able to give their input. [;)]

The basic service ex MAN is exactly the same, you get the same seat, food, sleepsuit etc and in a very nice small private cabin which if you get good crew should make for some excellent service. Ok the IFE will not be as good and as Nick said no CH but otherwise it should be the same.

Right.
Along with the other poor relations in the VS fleet Gatwick and Glasgow:-
You will get a small UC cabin and Pe/Econ passengers using your toilets
you will get sleep suits
IF they have loaded them, you will get a selection of wines and spirits
You will get something akin to food.

You will NOT get a clubhouse at best a buisness lounge of some sorts
You will NOT get an IFBT (even before the restructure)
You will NOT get fast track/private UC entrance
You will get the worst IFE virgin has available
You Will be delayed.
You will not have priority entrance or exit from the plane
You may get seoperate UC luggage carrousel, posssibly...

Alan if you feel so strongly about the lack of service in UCS from VS why do you not try other airlines?

Lets be honest, the product ex MAN may not be up to the standards ex LHR BUT it is miles better than most other major international carriers.

The IFE may be the *worst* in the VS fleet but its miles better than what the likes of LH, IB, UA, QF etc offer.

You cannot say you will be delayed- you could be delayed on any route that VS operates. As the TR I wrote last year shows, a delay is often down to sheer bad luck.

You will get UC baggage belt at MCO- its one of the things MCO does well.

You can spin the VS UCS product positively and negatively but lets remember it is a product that is much better than many other carriers.

At a time when the airline industry is struggling, surely its better that VS dont invest in CH's that will be empty for the vast majority of the time, and focus on remaining in business.

Two of the aircraft that service MAN have Odyssey, not Nova, so are technically not the 'worst' IFE in the fleet.

I've only flown into MAN, not from, and in that respect it is no different than flying home to LGW. Its the same aircraft and cabin, and yes you get sleepsuits and the same Upper Class service.

Thanks,
Sarah

I fly from MAN to MCO every November. I have not never been delayed on the outward journey, in fact it usually arrives up to an hour early, and only once on the return, when time was made up on the return. In this case the delay was caused by the incomming LGW aircraft (Technical reasons).

I am sure delays happen, and I know that the LGW - MCO route is probrably the worst VS route for delays, but in my experience MAN is not that bad at all.

I have flown VS from and into heathrow on a number of occasions and everytime the flight was late departing and delayed on arrival at heathrow due to no gate being available.

Hope this helps.

Neil.

Exactly Sarah. And just to highlight that it is a matter of personal opinion I personally find Odyssey worse than Nova (its the horrid 1980 style menus that do it for me).

My experience is that the only downside is the lack of a clubhouse, they let you in the Escapoe lounge instead.

I have used the priority boarding ( though if people push in front they don't get stopped )

Suites are fine ( sometimes grubby due to turnaround ), there is no ifbt and no v-port.

However the difference in price pretty much makes it a good deal to fly MAN to MCO.

1)You will get the worst IFE virgin has available
2)You Will be delayed.
3)You will not have priority entrance or exit from the plane
4)You will get a small UC cabin

1)Not true as already outlined, and as mentioned in my TR's, our family who have never flown VS before were very impressed with NOVA.
2)What a stupid comment, we have been delayed much more ex LHR then we were ex MAN
3) Er, yes you do, UC boarded first and MAN & MCO and then the main Y cabin was held back on both occasions for UC/PE to be allowed off first. Obviously due to the layout it would not be practical for the UC pax to be the very first off the a/c but you are in the first few.
4)We actually really liked the small UC cabin, it gave a very exclusive feel and made the interaction with the crew very personal

Being overly negative with incorrect facts/personal opinions does not help anyone.
