PE upgrade voucher question

Hi all,

I have a Y to PE voucher from my VS amex card. If I use this can I purchase a G class ticket for UC using miles eg pay for an L class ticket, use my voucher and then pay 40,000 miles to get into UC.

No you can't.

To use your PE upgrade voucher you need to first use miles for an economy flight and then you get your upgrade to PE. There needs to be reward availability in PE but it doesn't matter if there isn't any in Y. You can't then use more miles to upgrade to upper though.

Having said that it is worth trying at the airport on the day to see if they have availability to do a further upgrade at a cost of 20,000 miles one way (in advance the system won't let them do that).....depends on how busy the flight is, if enough meals have been uploaded and the person you ask.
