Have just noticed that the text below has appeared on the What's Onboard page on the VS website....

'Inseat power is only available to laptops requiring a maximum of 70W of power.

Passengers are reminded that in the interests of cabin safety, inseat power must not be used as a charging facility.

Please note that laptop seat power is not available in the economy cabin'.

I am assuming that VS have not made any changes to their in-seat laptop power facility in UC & PE. I used my 90W HP laptop fine last November in UC running off the in-seat power supply (but the battery was all but fully charged when I got onboard, as I'd been using it in the lounge at MAN).

Surely most modern laptops (especially the wide-screen variants) require more than 70W of power?

Thoughts?

Thanks
James

Nothing looks new/changed. Anything drawing more than 70W can cause the breaker for the Empower socket to trip and the crew have been known to refuse to reset it if your adaptor needs more than 70w.

Also, it only provides power to run not to charge. Sounds like someone has been doing silly things.

Turn the brightness of the screen down and that will reduce the wattage needed to power your computer. I imagine there is a freeware tool out there that can gauge usage for you.

I _always_ have to set my screen to low power otherwise it just won't work on VS. No trouble on NZ.
