VS lounge at JFK- can it be used for ARRIVING?

Hey All

I see Virgin doesnt have an arrivals lounge at all at JFK. However I was wondering if the lounge for depatures is prior to security? And if so, do they ever let people in from the incoming flight to freshen up as I now have a 6 hour layover thanks to AA changing my connection so it was too early to make and now I have to wait for the next flight.

All VS Clubhouses around the world; air-side or land-side, are departure lounges. The exception being Revivals at LHR T3.
