There's a 5 day sales bonanza on the website.

Their last sale ended just 4 days ago!

Prices seem the about the same, in fact I booked 10 days ago on VS003/4 for 229.70 in November - which isn't available in the new sale!

With so many sales (the last sale started a day after the previous sale) - I'd be hesitant on booking in Y in a non-sale period!

Gurmstar - Did your original booking earn tier points and miles - I know my X class to JFK did.

Looking at current sale LA flights, doesn't look like they are miles earning - that could account for the difference.

Another bonus of flying VS is that they often do still include tier points and miles in the majority of their discounted and sale tickets - something I gather doesnt happen with BA!

Blame BA they usually start it!!!

The previous sale fare did allow miles and tier points
The current sale fare doesn't allow miles or tier points and there's less availbility so harder to get the fare
