Ok, first post, I hope someone has an idea?

I'm heading back to England for a week on September 5th. It's a Friday.

I just went to check prices, and there seems to be a new option for the EWR to LHR route?? I normally take VS2 (9.10pm) but it seems there is a second flight at 9.25pm on VS6315? Which I've never seen before? It says it is operated by VA and not Continental. It supposedly lands in LHR at exactly the same time as the earlier VS2 flight (9.05am) and so if it is operated by VA then I'd rather take it and save a tiny bit of time!

Anybody know anything about this flight, is it going to be a regular one?

Hi and welcome to V-flyer

The first thing that strikes me is that apart from the unusual number itself, it also ends in an odd number whereas flights from west to east end in an even number, e.g. VS2, VS4, VS10 and further afield VS200, VS400. However it is there on the VS website and there is nothing to indicate that it is not VS metal.

Maybe a call to Virgin Atlantic to check it out?

Very odd ... I wonder if VS had a cruise charter to New York or some such thing and decided to sell the seats on the return ... or some other similar reason?

But if you look on the 3rd, 4th and 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th its there as well ... so how about a special service around Labor Day just because they can?

Then again, if you look on Expert Flyer there's no mention of it ... a Web site glitch?

Hmmm, this is an interesting one.

The flight only shows up for any dates after 1st September and onwards. If you book EWR-LHR this flight shows as departing 20mins after the VS2. If however you book it as a LHR-EWR-LHR then both flights show as departing at the same time, but as different a/c types.

It seems strange that VS would add another flight to NYC, especially as they are cancelling the 25/26 from the end of October, and there is also no new outbound flight. I wonder if it is maybe a new codeshare agreement they are going to have in place from September because as HL says the flight number certainly doesn't follow the VS pattern and is very codeshare like.

If you do speak to VS I would be very interested to hear what they say.

That sounds like a CO code share and is wrongly labelled?

Very starnge its also on our internal website. I checked the loads for it. It says it's a LHR 747 and no seats have been sold

What so you expect me to read every word of every post in a thread before I reply to it [?]

I think editing posts to reflect the truth in the way that I see it is a far better idea [:0]

lol I wish I had taken a screenshot of it so you don't all think I'm mad! Although it's reassuring that a few people did also look and see it, so I know that it's not just me being insane.

I actually called US reservations last night to put a flight on hold. She couldn't see that 6315 flight number in her system, but then she checked something else and it was there. She thought it was weird and said they would check into it.

I just wonder what would have happened if I'd actually booked it?! Online, it let me get all the way through to the payment stage with that flight # before I cancelled out of it.

Not at all, the VS website is well known on here for it's strange behaviour and breakdowns, trust me, we believe you.
