Do you think Virgin will ever expand their flights into South America? I am suprised that they they dont already fly to Santiago or Buenos Aires? I think they could do really well, choice is pretty much limited to LAN, seats are always full especially on the Santiago/Auckland route.

Any chance of this happening in the hopefully not to distant future?

As has been mentioned quite a lot recently, I think we can forget about any route/fleet expansion whilst the economic climate is like it currently is.

Many a V-Flyer would like VS to expand in to many areas with South America and especially GIG quite a popular one, certainly I would like that, but I guess we will just have to keep hoping for the time being.

I was under the impression that VS has the rights to fly to GIG, but as Neil says, its unlikely that we'll see any new routes in the immediate future, especially as existing routes are having cancellations.

Thanks,
Sarah

Don't they very occasionally fly charters to GIG to link up with cruises?

If new planes join the fleet in coming years I can see an expansion, but none in the short term. For me, BA is top of the list.

Sorta OT - FC has a really good award for 30K miles USA to South America.

Anyone know which cruise lines they fly these charters for? I am thinking of doing a cruise next year and if it were using VS flights it would be much more appealing!

There are no set cruise line/schedule for these flights, they are just usually 'specials' when maybe a cruise line is doing a special cruise etc and they charter an airline to get their pax to the meet the ship. Also it depends on if VS have a/c available (or the price is good enough).

I know princess have used them before. I remember they were selling UC seats for £600 return supplement which was a bargain (although I think the inflight service was standard throughout the plane)
