Ahh yes, I was wondering when the passenger weight debate was going to appear again.
I welcome airlines cutting weight everywhere else but on luggage allowance, this to me appears that they are atleast looking in other directions instead of just turning to the passengers baggage and stripping it back, which would feel like another cheap thoughtless shot in the back.
David made a good point with wine bottles, perhaps the electronic inflight magazines would be a good idea as well so long as the IFE actually works for the duration of the flight, which might be a big ask!

Interesting stuff - and not only better for the airline but better for the environment too. One heavy item I've never understood is wine bottles. Are plastic bottles not possible? The glass must be really heavy.
But with the cost of plastic going up with oil prices maybe it would prove even more expensive - unless they went for the 9.99 boxes of wine [:(]

To be honest, if a box of wine was better quality than some of the stuff served in UC, I'd be happy. In fact I can recommend a superb 5L box from the Libourne winery in Charente Maritime which costs about 4 euros [y].
More seriously ... all airlines are doing this, witness Emirates now putting all their duty free catalogues and in flight magazines on the IFE, that would be sensible for all and very green too.
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

Either it's a scorcher today or I feel my blood's boiling. [:p]
