How to maximise miles?

Hi folks,
I have a question. I have a flight booked to JNB (J class). I am a very old (not used 5+ years)Red. I am also travelling with another person from work - no card. He is also travelling again on Virgin later in the year and has a ticket for his other half.

What is the best way to maximise this? Can I get a match against by BA Silver?

Best way to maximise miles is to recommend your friend through the Miles More Friends scheme, you'll find this info on the VS Web site and it means you'll get an additional 10,000 miles and they will get am additional 3,000 miles. As an aside, reading the T&Cs this applies even if the person you recommend has their first flight as all miles, e.g. Z!

As to status match, VS is not as keen as some other airlines to offer this. If you could demonstrate that you have three or four UC trips lined up then I've heard it done before. But on the basis of one, which gets you 25% of the TPs for Au, it's unlikely.
