On the front page of VA.com

As from 3rd September, arrivals lounge at LGW closed - it was good while it lasted.

I remember the last time I was there , the lady on the desk was concerned that the hotel next door had been measuring up for expansion, so I guess thats maybe what happened. [V]

That doesn't surprise me - if US Airways can find one more way of saving any money at all they will!

I think without a shadow of a doubt they are the worst airline I've flown with.

I have to travel within the US for work, so can't avoid them completely. I was on a flight 2 weeks ago and someone was cold and asked for a blanket only to be told they don't have any. However, the fairly miserable cabin crew informed this shivering passenger, from next month US Air will be SELLING blankets and pillows before you board the plane.

Add that to the $25 charge for booking a flight over the phone; $15/$25 charge for checking 1/more bags; $15 to reserve an aisle or window seat in the first few rows (domestic); $1 cup of tea; $2 water/can of coke!!

And not forgetting that half their planes are old, tatty and falling apart!

Perhaps this might just be the kick start to a LGW revivals of some sort.

Probably my fault as I titled it, but shouldn't it remain in the Virgin forum as its also the Arrivals Lounge at LGW for Gold and Upper Class passengers [?]

I have used it, the sitting area was very naff and the Plasma screen was missing, but the shower rooms and changing facilities were brillient. Hope VA do something with this.

Only problem was getting in to the lift to go down there because everyone and his mother plonks their cases and themselves in front of the lift doors.

Sod it anyway, I really enjoyed using it earlier this year after an MCO-LGW flight. While the lounge itself was quite small, the showers were excellent & really helped make a difference after our overnight flight, before connecting onwards to DUB.

We were also very impressed with the welcome we got at the front desk & came away saying that it was a wonderful facility & looked forward to using it again........[:(]

Let's just hope the VS do something to replace the facility or even better, build a Revivals lounge of their own.
