I've been trying for sometime to get the supplementary Silver Card for my wife, now that I have Gold status[:)]. However this isn't as easy as it seems. I thought as she already had a regular account this wasn't going to be any problem.

Sent in one application by mail (from the US to the UK) as the Premier Line suggested. They said that didn't arrive. Then faxed in another copy of the form a week or so ago, and was told it would be dealt with immediatedly.

Called in today (the 800 number routing is now fixed, as suggested in another thread) and was told that it's still not set up, but that the department is 'short staffed at the moment'.

Anyone else had any issues with this? Seems simple enough, and as she's flying Friday (EWR-LHR) it would be nice to have it set up.

When I dropped to Ag for a year my wife's SSC lapsed and I had to renew it when I achieved gold the following year - this was about a year ago. It didn't go quite as smoothly as setting up from scratch but it did go through eventually after a couple of calls - can't quite remember how long it took.

When your wifes SSC lapsed did it revert to red or did it just disappear. Reason I'm asking is I am about to lose my earned silver status but wife is gold and will renew so would 'renew' my silver as a SSC - however I have tons of miles in my account and so would not want to lose them if the wife ever ceased to be gold.

I'm a SSC, seem to recall it was quite easy to setup. But each time Dean passes his renewal date I revert back to red and need to call FC to remind them to change me back to Silver. Always done, but an annoyance.

You don't loose your miles if you revert down a level, just the status level.

Never had any problem with SSC, renewed every year automatically. When it started a few year ago, it only took a week to set up and receiving the card. And it was even better, becasue all previous mileage that Mrs had, all been topped up with 25% bonus! We couldn't believe it, it was quite a lot of miles.

oxmatt, you don't lose your miles when drop to red. Unless you haven't had any activities with your account for 36 months.
