Does anyone have any ideas as to why the amend your booking function on VS has been diasbled. Everytime I have tried over the last couple of days, it simply comes up as:

WE'RE SORRY
Our on-line amend facility is currently disabled.

Please try again later.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Any ideas???

I have accessed it two or three times in the last few days without a problem, so I assume the outages are hit and miss.

It seems to have been down for several days/week + now. I booked a flight the today for later this week and have no idea where I will be sitting (apart from it being in UC) plus fights I booked last week for later this month. Iritating but not the end of the world for me.

They have definitely been having problems with OLCI recently so maybe the fix involves taking it down...

The amend booking service was working this morning, but appears to be down again now.

I've been trying to access the Amend Booking facility for several days, since booking a flight on Saturday and it has been 'disabled' every time I have tried.

However this morning it is back up [:)] However when I try to use it it spends a good couple of minutes minutes in egg timer mode (after inserting credentials) and then displays a screen void of info in the main segment...by this I mean the menu down the left is still intact as is the main Amend Booking title banner along the top.

I thought is was perhaps down to our Citrix browsers at work but have tried on laptop and get same thing. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Cheers
James

EDIT: Tried again and, yet again it is down! 'Our on-line amend facility is currently disabled' [n]

I managed to view my booking this morning, but it did take a while to load after entering my PNR but eventually it did show everything properly.

I've had that blank screen come up before though using IE7.

VS are clearly having problems!!

Thanks James. I think they're have problems all round...have just been to Virgin Holidays site to try booking 'hotel only' and, after insertig city and dates, got 'Sorry there's been a probem' followed by this somewhat amusing message >>

Here at Virgin Holidays this is our busiest time and this year with the wet and windy weather more of you are wanting to swap a duvet day for a tanning day and we don't blame you!! With us being so busy we are not able to help you as well as we would like to and as much as we usually do, so here are your options:
Try again later, sit down have a cup of tea, get back under that duvet and hopefully we will be able to help later.

Among other suggestions were to request a brochure or give them a call!

I did change my seat from India yesterday but the whole process took around 25 minutes with long delays each time the seat plan was accessed/changed

Last night 'Amend Booking' was back again as a menu option and I finally managed to use it to select seats but not using the UK site! It just threw up messages saying to contact Reservations. I switched to the US site and, although painfully slow (so slow that I'd go off & do something else between each screen!)- it finally worked!

The good news is that this morning all seems fine in terms of speed...and the UK site works!

I spoke too soon, they have yet again disabled the Amend Booking facility! Do you get the impression VS need some help on the IT front [:?]

Well, as has often been pointed out, just look at the fact you need to call or mail to get credit for mileage on an upgraded flight ... doesn't give you a great deal of confidence in the SW infrastructure sitting behind this.

There are a number of integration point failures going on right now, apparently. Many US CC holders aren't seeing their miles credited, called BofA on Friday and the guy pretty much told me he'd had his fill of VS cardholders calling about their miles not posting. All is clearly not well in VS cyberspace.
