Hi all,

First post after reading many, many useful posts on everything I need to know about my upcoming Virgin Atalantic flight to Johannesburg.

I am struggling with the VA customer service desk and wondered if someone could help?

I have booked my honeymoon flights with OPODO, in total we will take 7 flights (LHR-JHB,JHB-GBE,GBE-BBK,BBK-GBE,GBE-JHB,JHB-CPT,CPT-LHR) over 3 weeks. I tried to manage my booking at the beginning of december, but didn't have much luck finding my flights. I thought it was likely my own idiocy and dropped it in the run up to christmas.

Starting the process again around the 21st I found that actually the VA.com booking system couldn't cope with any booking that had more than 4 sectors in it - advertised on the site. Thinking that a phone call would sort this out, I have now spent upwards of 3 hours on the phone over the last few (working) days trying to pre-book our seats.

This has been to no avail. The web-team email me and say that they can't help but I should ring customer services to book. They then (repeatedly) tell me they do not have access to seat bookings and I must book online (despite me explaining their own problem to them a number of times!).

Has anyone else faced this, and if so, is there some way of fixing it that i'm not seeing? To be honest, all I want is to ensure myself and my new wife get seats next to each other (and a window would be lovely!).

Thanks.

IMHO when a travel itinerary gets this complicated and when it is for something as important as a honeymoon it is time to turn to a travel agent, the flights as are pretty straight forward to book through them and if something goes wrong you have a TA to fall back on, which trust me is a far better thing than sitting there listening to your new wife explain that messed it up ! (not that this happened to me...honest [:w])
