FC Redemption and purchase combo

Hi gurus,

Is it possible to book a revenue fare one way with full redemption the other? eg I'm thinking of booking L class one way upgrading to G class, and T class back (upgading to U using an Amex voucher).

One way fares are notoriously expensive, as has been mentioned several times.

May be worth giving the Flying Club a ring.

I don't think an L can be bought as a one way fare, it will have to be a Y.
