The seats that i reserved for my wife and I when managing my flights online for a holiday to NY from London have been removed and it now says they will be allocated at check in. Does anyone know why this happens? We had reserved 2 nice seats and now we could be left with not so good ones!

This subject and variations of it pop up pretty frequently.

A search will throw up more detailed responses, but generally the seats avaailable for allocation have been reserved so no further changes can be made, or perhaps your plane has changed from one config to another.

As nevadakaz has said, this subject has been discussed over and over again.

First thing to say is that you don't reserve seats, you request them. They are always subject to change. But, as nevadakaz has said, the reason for the new message is probably that the all of the seats available for requesting in advance have been taken.

In all probability you seats are safe.

This is a quote from a previous reply on the same subject The seat map is closed because the quota of 60% of seats available for pre-allocation has been reached. There is every likelihood, however that your seat request is still OK. If you go into the Manage my Booking page on the VS website and click on the arrow by your name it should show the seat number you requested.

The same has happened to us for our flight in a few days time.

I find that it does depend on how you access your flight details on VA's website.

If you go into 'manage my booking' it tends to say seats will be allocated at check in. If you click on your flight details where it actually shows your flight then you'll more than likely find tht your seat request is showing.

AS everyone says, click on the arrow beside your name on the My Booking site and it should show your original request.

To update from my earlier reply, when I did OLCI both outbound & inbound,my seats showed as those that I had originally reserved so that was fine. However, at the airports, LHR & MIA I was able to change them to exit row seats.[:D]
